Report on the BBCD International Golf Tournament held at Kosaido on 24 September

October 3, 2017

Dear Members, Friends and Sponsors of the British Business Club Düsseldorf

I would like to extend a warm welcome to the British Business Club Düsseldorf (BBCD) website to all our members, friends, sponsors and visitors. We will be gradually increasing the content on our website over the next few months, so do come back and get updated from time to time.

After some very wet weather the previous few days, we were lucky to get some dazzling sunshine on Sunday for the 98 golfers from ten countries who played in the British Business Club Düsseldorf's First International Golf Tournament, held in association with Kosaido International Golf Club Düsseldorf. There was fierce competition and friendly rivalry from teams from China, Taiwan, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Japan, France, Netherlands and Russia. Teas with scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream, a traditional British treat, were provided at the half-way point, courtesy of Teehaus Benrath. Each competitor drank an average of one pint of tea! The event was a great success and we were delighted by the level of support and the positive feedback. For the evening meal and prize ceremony the total present, inclusive of guests, exceeded 140.

Team Taiwan won the brutto score team prize, helped by the Taiwanese Ambassador to the Netherlands, Tom Chou, who was playing for their team and came over especially from the Hague for the event with some of his fellow Taiwanese. The BBCD Golf Cup individual winner was Sean Yuen Pang from Team China. There was also an opportunity for newcomers to golf to try Kosaido's Schnupperkurs (golf taster course) during the day. A charity raffle (tombola) at the event raised over EUR 800 for two charities, the Bahnhofsmission and the Royal British Legion.

The event was supported by many local companies, individuals and businesses who provided competition and tombola prizes, as well as tea, fruit and flowers, to whom we are very grateful. We would like to express our special thanks to the sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible (and, hopefully, I have not omitted any!):
